Whenever I travel to Hong Kong or Japan, there are a few things I must include on my itinerary: a Blue Bottle coffee shop, the newest restaurants and the dreamy consignment stores that house the most beautiful collections of vintage Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dior. While I still have yet to purchase a resale item from these trips, I always love perusing the boutiques to see what hidden gems may or may not be calling my name.

There’s no denying that these luxury consignment stores in Hong Kong and Tokyo are light years ahead of Canada’s when it comes to quantity, variety and condition. Longtime luxury consignment shopper Diana Nguyen can attest to that. When the former banker returned to Canada after living in the Asia-Pacific region for seven years, she unsuccessfully tried to consign her own designer bags on Toronto’s Queen Street West and realized there was a huge gap in the luxury resale market here.
